This is Lagdo dam in Cameroon that releases the water presently causing flooding ravaging us in Nigeria.
It's important however to note that this' neither an act of malice nor sabotage on the part of Cameroon.
The arrangement in place is that Nigeria should build its own barriers to mitigate the effect of this upsurge whenever Cameroon is pressed to release the deluge to save its people from flooding.
We refused to build the barriers.
Secondly, Nigeria is always put on notice by Cameroon before releasing the waters. It doesn't just happen. So, our Ogas at the top are quite aware of their inactions and the consequences of this for Nigerians.
We don't have the barriers to contain the deluge and the government get informed ahead by Cameroon, yet they do nothing but fold their arms waiting for the deadly consequences of the water to happen to us.
Grapevine sources hinted that the contract for the barriers had repeatedly been awarded by successive governments but nothing has yet been built.
Tragic indeed
